Course Description: MAT 193, Calculus II, covers Chapters 1-3 from the textbook: Techniques and applications of integration, Sequences and series, power series, Taylor series.

Text: CLP-2 Integral Calculus, by Joel Feldman, Andrew Rechnitzer, Elyse Yeager, available online http://www.math.ubc.ca/~CLP/

Objectives: After completing MAT 193 the student should be able to:

Prerequisites: MAT 191 or equivalent with a grade of "C" or better.

Grades: Grades will be based on three in‑class 80-minutes examinations (60% total), a comprehensive final examination (25%), and quizzes, homework, attendance and other assignments (15%) for the remainder.

The exact grading system for your section is the following:

Each of the three 80-minutes exams will be graded  on a 100 scale, then the sum of the scores is divided by 5 and denoted by E.

WeBWorKAll homework, quizzes, and exams will be done in WeBWork, which can be accessed at

https://math.csudh.edu/webwork2/20Fall_MAT193_Raianu/

Log in with:

User name: the part before the “@” in the email address that you have given to my.csudh.edu

Password: your 9 digit CSUDH student ID

You can change the password after the first log in. If you did not use WeBWorK before, use Set0 to learn how to input your answers (Set0 will not be graded). You should download and print one set, work on the problems, then input your answers. You can use the "email instructor" button to ask for help, in this way I will see the problem you need help with and all your past answers. For all quizzes and tests you will also have to upload your paper work on Blackboard. No credit will be given without the paper work.

Homework will be due every Monday on WeBWorK, and each homework is worth 5 points. No late homework will be accepted. The average of all homework scores is denoted by H.

5 to 10 minutes quizzes will be given in principle every Monday, and will be graded on a scale from 1 to 10. The average of the quizzes scores is denoted by Q.

The final exam will be graded out of a maximum possible 200, then the score is divided by 8 and denoted by F. All quizzes and exams will be taken on WeBWorK.

You will also need to take a picture of your paper work and upload it on Blackboard. No credit will be given without the paper work.

To determine your final grade,  compute E+H+Q+F. The maximum is 100, and the grade will be given by the rule:

         A: 93‑100;      A‑: 90‑92;      B+: 87‑89;      B: 83‑86;   B‑: 80‑82

        C+: 77‑79;      C: 73‑76;        C‑: 70‑72;      D+: 67‑69;   D: 60‑66;     F: Less than 60.

Makeups: No makeup examinations or quizzes will be given. If you must miss an examination for a legitimate reason, discuss this, in advance, with me, and I may then substitute the relevant score from your final examination for the missing grade.

Accommodations for Students with Disabilities: Cal State Dominguez Hills adheres to all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines with respect to providing reasonable accommodations for students with temporary and permanent disabilities. If you have a disability that may adversely affect your work in this class, I encourage you to register with Student disAbility Resource Center (SdRC) and to talk with me about how I can best help you.
